"Has encountered a problem and needs to close."

Hi;

I have a 16 bit file manager that I have been using for years with XP.
I still use it at home with my XP system there. For the past week,
whenever I attempt to run the program, I get an error that lists the
app, and says "Has encountered an error and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience."

Any idea what could be causing this? I have tried to remove the program
and do a fresh re-install and that doesn't work either.

Thanks for any help

You don't really want to put a genuine email address in newsgroups where it
will be harvested by spammers unless you are prepared for the results, I do
but am doing research and got 250,000 emails last year :)

Anyway, why were you unable to remove and reinstall? Was there an error
message of any kind when you tried?

Think back to the last time you successfully used it. Has anything changed?
Is your home system fully updated with Windows Update? If the work system
auto updates but yours at home does not than maybe a recent update could
have done it...

Right-click on My Computer and select Manage. Expand the Event Viewer
category and browse through the Application events looking for entries
whose date and time stamps correspond to your error messages. Double
click on an event entry to see the details of that item.

Good luck
