I installed an ATI All-In-Wonder VE (radeon 7500) video card in my
dimension 2400 and got the message below while in the Windows XP
screen after powerup. The display is barely legible with blurry
graphics and vertical stripes of distortion.
"Graphics Bus failure. The display driver has discovered
incompatibilities with your system and is unable to use any
accelerated graphics rendering. Please contact your PC manufacturer
for assistance"
Has anyone else had any luck installing the AIW VE PCI board in their
23XX or 24XX? I'm pretty annoyed that ATI sold me on this card with
the following advertising on their web site:
"Want to upgrade the graphics and multimedia features of your computer
but don't have an AGP slot, the ALL-IN-WONDER® VE PCI is the product
for you.
Owners of DELL 23xx or 24xx models or computer systems with the i810
or 845GL chipsets, you are a good candidate to buy the ALL-IN-WONDER®
VE PCI board to get a graphics, TV and Video boost for your computer."
I guess they don't have a compatibility lab at ATI? Caveat Emptor when
it comes to ATI compatibility claims.
So my expectations of plug-and-play have become a debugging project.
I've tried
the following so far (as instructed by Dell support):
1. flashed my BIOS with the "latest" recommended by Dell support
2. cleared the NVRAM
3. Ran the Dell diagnostics program and got the following error:
"Error Code 53000119(?)
Msg detected failure while writing and reading video memory Video
mode 6h (640x250) address ???? expected but read ?????
0h instead."
4. Downloaded the "latest" chipset and video drivers and reinstalled
them.
None of these things fixed the problem. Anything else I can try?
Thanks in advance.
