Harvest this System?

Anyone ever 'harvested' from a system before? I've been thinking about
buying a cheap system off ebay and maybe investing in a more expensive new
mother board, putting them together and ending up with a quality system for
a cheap price?

What should I consider when doing this?

I'd get the motherboard from somewhere like dabs.com or a computer fair and
here's and example of a system off ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2752033112&category=4317&rd=1

Can I rely on a system from ebay? Are older components going to work with a
more modern motherboard?

Thanks,

JohnZ

It's pointless. If you buy a cheap older system you'll probably find
the HDD is a slower type, the RAM is the wrong type and you'll change
pretty much everything except the case (although you'll probably change
the PSU), the floppy and the CDROM drive.

Nah if its your old system and your going to upgrade, taking this and that, and put it in a NEW system, that would be economical,
but buy just to rip down, won't be very cost effective.

Alright, all noted. Thanks. Still, some cheap bargains on ebay for building
a computer.

Thanks again,

Mr C
