Hi,

Was wondering if someone can help me with some specs, I'm a bit of a
novice at this.

Currently I have an Asus P5B with an AMD 2.2ghz and 2GB of RAM. I
have the opportunity to change that to an Asus P5QL-CM with an Intel
2.8ghz (E7400) and 2GB of RAM.

I'm curious if I'd notice a huge speed increase if I did this. I'd
have to re-install Vista, but it would be worth it if the speed would
be a huge improvement.....

Please advise.

I'm sure a hardware guru who is familiar with both those motherboards will
come along, but I'm going to say no. Even though the processor on the new
board is better, you would see a bigger speed increase if you would
increase your RAM to 3GB. Also, slowness is often caused by too many
unnecessary programs/processes running in the background. Without knowing
whether you've optimized your Startup and without knowing what programs you
normally run, that's all I can say.

You probably won't have to reinstall. I've changed out three AMD processors
and motherboards for Quad Core Intels with totally different chipsets on the
mobos and have just restarted. Vista sorts itself out... just make sure you
have the motherboard CPU handy in case. Didn't have to reinstall a thing.

And yes, you will notice a very large leap in performance.
