I upgraded my hard drive, motherboard, CPU, and memory.
Now XP shuts down without warning. Is this a problem with
windows activation?

Hi

Have a look at the following article by MVP Alex Nichol

"Windows Product Activation (WPA) on Windows XP"

That's not product activation - you would see a notice telling you to
re-activate.

Your problem is the result of either malfunctioning or incompatible
hardware, or something that you inadvertently damaged while working inside
your computer.

The correct way to upgrade is to install one piece of hardware at a time,
testing thoroughly between each upgrade. To diagnose your problem(s), you
will have to remove each piece of hardware, one at a time, until you locate
the problem. Hope you kept your old parts. It's also a good idea to upgrade
to the latest BIOS before adding hardware.
