Ok peeps, here is the answer to *most* not all of your hardware failures. I
used to work at CompUSA so I know this from first hand experience. If you
buy your computer parts at CompUSA you ARE going to pay a little more,
however if you buy their TAP (Technology Assurance Program) on these
products you can cover them up to 2 years. Now how are these different from
"extended" warranties? Well first off the program covers physical damage.
I can't even count the number of stuff we replaced that had been run over,
submerged, or crushed. Second of all you can use it for upgrades, so if
your part isn't broken within those 2 years, you still bring it in and get
an instore credit for what you originally paid for it. Example: You go buy
a 499 video card, pay 49.99 for 2 years coverage. When in say 6 months a
newer much faster version comes out you take your old 499 video card in and
buy the NEW 499 video card with your instore credit and pay 49.99 to insure
it for 2 years again, you only pay 49.99 instead of 499.99. Get it? Same
things for palm pilots etc.

So you're claiming it would only cost an extra $50 to trade-in the old
video card for the new one, so long as it's <2 years elapsed? That
does sound like a very good deal, though your post drifts towards
being spam. Are there any GUARANTEES that this will be allowed 2
years later, no fine print exclusions, and a guarantee that if this
warranty/trade-in program is discontinued, that ********** is still
bound to honor it for that 2 year duration, that it is not subject to
an approval, rejection, other complications?

How much did they pay you to say that?

Im a bit skeptical about his interpretation of the deal but who knows
it might be true. It sounds too good to be true like they are morons.

You buy a 9700 Pro for a couple of hundred and then within 2 years
when its virtually worthless , before the thing runs out they credit
you the full couple hundred for a trade-in on the new

ATI or NVDA SUPER DUPER X chip that wipes out any old cards ? And you
keep doing it forever. Sounds like a recipe for diaster on Compusa's
part though they do have relatively high prices for vid cards and some
other things if it isnt on sale.

Usually when there anything like that kind of deal they adjust the
card down to what they say is market value - meaning virtually
nothing. Just like on lease programs etc.

That's what I would've assumed, still suspect, it can't be THAT
straightforward to trade-in a card then worth only 30% of original
value, at least not with high-end cards.

Hehe I new you guys wouldn't believe it, but hey I'm not gonna sit here and
try and sell you on it. Just thought I would put the info out there. The
ONLY reason I know it's tru is because I do it, and I worked there so I
replaced things all day long that had tap warranties on them. Some broken
some for upgrade. OH and BTW I don't work for them any more. But judge it
for yourself.
