If it is a hardware problem, the error message means you don't have the
correct W2K drivers (the W98 drivers won't work.) Go to the website of your
graphics card manufacturer, and look for the latest drivers.

OTOH, it may be a software problem -- that is, "D 3D" may refer to a software
module or feature that was/is available for W98 but not for W2K. (I've not
seen "D-3D" before.] Unfortunately, quite a few games that ran fine on
earlier versions of Windows (or on DOS, for that matter) won't run on W2K
because of software problems. W2K is a radically different OS from earlier
Windows (which were little more than pretty menus for DOS, actually), so some
games written for Windows/DOS need to be rewritten radically to run on W2K.

Good luck! If you find drivers that work, post back with the information here
- there will be other people who can use the information.

Have you downloaded and installed the Win2K-specific video drivers
from your video adapter manufacturer's web site?

What everybody else says is applicable, but you'll also want to install the
latest version of DirectX. That's where the D3D (Direct 3D) drivers are.
