Hardware or Software Problem?

I have a Dual Xeon 2.8 MHz system with 2 * 1GB ECC Reg Ram on a
Supermicro X5DA8 MB. The problem I'm having is when I get to using
around 900M/2683M or Commit Charge of Ram use my system slows down to an
unbearable slow speed. Switching Apps takes for ever. It’s like the
system ran out of memory and is no pagefiling to HDD. If it is
Pagefiling why, when I’m only at have of my Ram total use? I have
switched memory chips with no luck. I’m using Ram that Supermicro has
listed on their site. I ran Memory test programs on the Ram and showed
no problem.

Could this be an OS problem? Bad Registry setting or something that
needs to be tweaked? VM is set to 786MB down from 3GB to see if it
helped but didn’t.

Any suggestions? Bad MB If so how to check?

Thanks,
Joe

Ok,
It is indeed the Pagfile causing the problem. Right now I'm at
1684M/1896 Commit Charge of Ram. I currently have no pagefile, I went to
move it to another drive and forgot to hit the "SET" botton. My machine
runs fine now that I have no page file. That is until I ge close to the
1896M limit on Ram. I wnat my page file back. is there a away to tweak
XP no to PAgefile until I hit this hight Memory use and not 900M like
before which I do allot of?
