My p3 550 is a slot 1. It is always overheating even with
the thermo goop I put on it and with two fans inside the
tower, a fan on the processor, and I even opened up the
side of my tower and have a fan blowing into it. If I run
a dvd it overheats and shuts down my computer, then
windows XP messes up and I have to reinstall it. What can
I do to fix this problem? Do I have a bad processor? I
can't understand what the problem is. I've loaded 98, ME,
and XP on it. All crash, but XP is the only one that
needs to be continually reinstalled. Please help me.

It could be a bad processor, or the voltage could be set wrong, or it could
be a bad power supply.
