Hi,

I'm trying to install a Netgear wireless WG111V2 USB key on my Windows XP
SP2 computer and when I plug the key, I'm requested to install the driver so
I insert the Netgear Driver CD in my CD Drive and each time the installation
terminates with the followuing message :

Cannot install this Hardware - The specified file cannot be found (not the
exact messages as I translated them from the french ones) but there is no
file name mentionned. And obviously my wifi key doesn't work

The strange thing is that I have 2 XP SP2 partitions on my drive and I tried
to make the installation on my second partition, and it worked without any
problem and my wifi key works fine, so the CD, the driver and the key are OK

So I feel I probably have a compatibility issue with an other driver or
program

Is there a way to make the hardware installation more " manually" , that is
without the install wizard and is there a log file somewhere where I can
find more information about what went wrong ?

Thanks for your help

Have you looked for the file name of the driver on the second partition
by going into Device Manager? Get the filename from there and write it down.

Then locate the driver, either on the CD or on the second partition,
copy it to a known location.

Then reboot the first partition setup, go into Device Mgr from that one
and update the driver from there or do as before but point to the
location where you saved the driver.

When I installed a Netgear WG111T USB wireless into my machine it
specifically asked that the software be installed first and then after a
reboot insert the USB device and the XP Hardware Wizard will pick it
up..........at which point it loaded the Netgear drivers.

Peter,

I previously read the documentation and this is exactly what I have done in
both partitions. In the second one it worked but not in the first one . I
tried to uninstall et reinstall but without success

Thanks

I've already done that and I copied wg111v2.sys and net111v2.inf in a
folder and tried to install from here but got the same result.
