Hi all,
I've just recently installed a new mobo and amd cpu and have done a
fresh install of win xp. My headache is actually with a controller on the
mobo, a Promise FastTrack 579 controller that issues a "Code 10" error in
device manager and seems to end unexpectedly, causing the machine to reboot.
I've uninstalled / reinstalled in safe mode, searched for newer drivers and
pretty much have given up but, I need the controller for my 2 80Gb Maxtor
drives that contain many important files I want to copy to my 2 new WD SATA
250Gb raid 0 drives. Once I get those files copied, I could care less what
happens although I am thinking of adding an additional 2 x 250Gb WD drives
to this controller in the near future. Any help to diagnose this error
would be very much appreciated!!!!

If the 2 drives were in a RAID configuration on other board, then you need to
set them up in a RAID configuration on new board also.Once done, the pre
xp RAID configuration utility will show them as healthy or not.....

No, the drives were never set up as part of a raid array originally, just
individual drives hooked through the sata controller.
