I currently have an AMD Socket A processor using an Abit Max 2 Motherboard &
Windows XP Professional
The system has a 80gb Boot disc for operating system & programs with a Raid
0 striped array for the data
The system keeps falling over due to the motherboard overheating even with
additional fans
I want to replace motherboard & upgrade the processor

Can I do this without reinstalling XP
If I have to reinstall xp will I lose My Raid Disc

Can anybody help ?
Thankyou

Why a RAID 0 for data?
No way to tell on the reinstall without knowing which board your going to
replace it with, but there are ways around having to do a repair install,
you may need to reactivate at the very least. Your RAID array should be fine
but there are no guarantees, back it up first.

Whether the raid array will be OK depends on the raid chipset on the old and
new
But striped array for data??????? bizare in the extream, lose one disk and
you lose the lot

I just replaced a Athalon MB/CPU that also failed with a IBM Motherboard
and P4/2.54Ghz CPU (intel).

I booted from the XP CD, then processed a Repair/Reinstall, installed
the new drivers for the motherboard, and all worked well - system up and
running un less than 2 hours.
