My DC had a motherboard failure. I need to get this server back up ASAP. I
have a spare PC available. Is it possible to take the HD from the server
and move it to the PC?

Server hardware - Dual P3 933
512MB RAM
45GB IDE hard drive - The one I want to move
intel pro 100 NIC

PC hardware
Single P3 550
512MB RAM
Intel Pro 100 NIC

Essentially the only difference in hardware is the motherboard and single
CPU vs. Dual CPU. Is this possible or if not, what is a recommended course
of action?

Greetings --

Normally, unless the new motherboard is virtually identical to the
old one (same chipset, IDE controllers, etc), you'll most likely need
to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation, at the
very least (and don't forget to reinstall any service packs and
subsequent hot fixes):

I wouldn't think that it would work. The problem is in the HAL which
is different for a dual processor, I believe.
