I installed a new motherboard supporting a Pentium 4 2.6hz
hyper-threading cpu. When I re-booted xp went into damage
control mode and said it apologizes but can't open xp
this is due to a change in hardware and is protecting its
files. It simply will not open xp under any circumstances.
I then put back what we replaced deleted those drivers and
then re-installed the new hardware but again nothing.
Never had this problem before so obvliously it has
something to do with xp. Any help?

You were suppose to do the following first if you did not you
will be reloading win from scratch

Do a repair install

Hold on, are you saying that if you do not do a repair install after
replacing mobo and before booting XP, then you're screwed? Or am i
misreading you?
(Somehow the above sounds harsher than i meant it to be...)
