Harddrive issues

My computer crashed due to a harddrive issue, at least I think it did.
I came up witht the blue screen of death. Anyway I was able to get a
new harddrive and my old one started working again. I have no clue what
itsI am not able to retrieve my files from the old harddrive.
I've tried a couple of different things that I have found in the google
groups, but to be perfectly honest I have no clue what to do. When I
retrieved it only retrieved 2 out of 5 user accounts. The others say
empty.
Does that mean that the info was wiped clean of the harddrive? I also
have the ability to retrieve the owner information, but that means i
have to override the stuff on the new harddrive.
Should i override the new with the old or just stick with the new
stuff? Or should I just take it into a repair shop?

What is your Windows XP security problem?

I read that post twice now and I have *my* idea of what you cannot do - but
I have no idea if it is the right one.

First - I assume you have the other drive in as slave now and you are merely
trying to copy the data off the drive. If you can see it - in general - you
can copy it. You need to be sure to have the proper NTFS permissions in
order to do this:

If you have Windows XP Home - read carefully!

Keep your new stuff, get your old data - move on. Download the hard drive
manufacturer's (old possibly dead drive) diagnostic tools and run them to
see if it is dead AFTER you get your data copied off.
Email/Contacts/Favorites/Pictures/Documents/etc.
