harddisk trouble

Hei!
I have just installed a new secondary hardisk, but
the operative system (XP) won't start. Can anyone help me?

Is the new disk secondary to the primary hard drive? Installed on the same
cable? If so, make sure each drive is jumpered properly. Primary as Master
and secondary as Slave.

Or you might try cable select. This will find the drive and allocate its
postion depending where it is located on the cable.

Does the CMOS see the new drive? Set the hard drive detection to 'auto'. If
there is only one drive remove the jumper block (open), or put it in the
factory shipping position (see label on drive). If there is two set OS boot
drive to 'master', set second drive to 'slave'. Boot drive is connected to
'end' connector of data ribbon and second drive is connected to middle
connector. The 'cs' pins are jumpered for 'cable select' mode which makes
the drive(s) master and/or slave depending upon how you connected them on
the ribbon.

Check the connections too. Power leads in snugly, data ribbons connected
correctly (e.g., pin #1 to red stripe on ribbon). The number #1 pin position
is next to the power connector.
