harddisk problem

Hi,
my harddisk constantly reads or writes data even when I do nothing with
my PC. I looked into the Task Manager and the most readings and
recordings show these ones: winmgmt.exe , explorer.exe , smss.exe and
csrss.exe

Could these programs be configured re-configured in order to lessen the
number of readings and recordings from the harddisk? I have win 2000
Profesional.

The thrashing is probably constant paging due to low RAM

Hi,

Malware may cause this as well.
Scan your PC with e.g.:
Anti-Virus AVG at http://free.grisoft.com
*** AND ***
Anti-Adware Adaware at www.lavasoftusa.com
*** AND ***
Anti-Spyware Spybot at www.safer-networking.net
.. (don't type .com !!!)
