Harddisk bad partition type??

Hello,

about 6 months ago i got a 80GB maxtor HD.
I partitioned and formatted it with max-blast and created a few
partitions for windows and linux.

Everything seems to work fine but when i want to rezise, delete or do
annything with the drive using partition magic it can do annything
claiming it has a bad partition type.

I`ve narrowed the problem down to these warnings:
E:DISK1PART03 FAT32 Log 8,581.6 78,124,095 0
136,713,213 17,575,047
Warning #113: Logical starting at 136713213 overlaps enclosing
extended volume.
Error #114: Logical starting at 136713213 is not one head away from
EPBR.
EPBR Log 2,823.9 79,698,465 1
154,288,260 5,783,400

Any ideas how to fix it?
preferably leaving all data intact.
As now about 40GB is not used actively and i wish to reclaim it as
much needed backup space.

Use a hard drive utility and write zeros to the front of the drive and then
repartition.
