Are you using Surge Protection?

Compaqs are notorious for doing this. A while back when we used Compaqs for my business, this happened to my brand new Presario as well. I plugged it in, and surely enough, 2 hours later, the hard drive died

We've had 5 Compaqs die on us, and we finally switched to Dell

Though there are infinate many possibilities as to why your HD died, there are 4 prominent reasones that are sticking out in my mind
1. You got a 'lemon
2. Power surg
3. It got dropped sometime during shipmen
4. It's just a "Compaq", and Compaqs are known to do this quite often

Be well

Of course I'm using surge protection. Although here in Vegas it's almost not
necessary.

I exchanged the computer. However I ran into a problem with the new one when
I tried to make a recovery cd set.
It took over two hours because the computer kept on rejecting the CD's I was
using as defective.
It took 14 disc's to get the 7 the computer said were good. Are all
computers shipped these days
without system disk's?
