Hard drives not recognized by Win ME

I removed my hard drives to use to test another PC. When I put them back in my PC and boot the system no hard drives are found. One is a Fujutsi 80 Gig the other is a WD 10 gig. The Fujutsi was master and the WD was Slave. I traded cables with the CD Roms because they were Primary and the HDD were Secondary but not recognized. I traded the cables back , but still doesn't recognize HDs. Any thoughts?
