Another question!

My hard-drive over the years has becoming full of absolute crap!

Now, i can't be bothered to buy a whole new one atm, so can i just clean the whole thing and re-install only the applications i actually, fresh start etc.

I defrag is all the time etc, but i think it's just full of stuff un needed now it's past needing defragging!

Thanks.

So just download and run it?

Will it wipe everything?

Will i have to re-install my internet and such? I only mainly play one game and use the internet nowadays so not much stuff to put back on.

You will loose EVERYTHING if you format the drive, so back up your music, save games etc.

If you dont want to do that you could try uninstalling progs you dont use and running Ccleaner. it will help you get some space back but no performance increase.

If you reformat you'll have to reinstall EVERYTHING, so proceed with caution.

Take a look in Control Panel/Add/remove programs, you should be able to get rid of a lot of stuff from there.

Plus you can delete any unwanted files and folders within My Documents or wherever it is you store them.

If you reformat you will have to reinstall your Internet; Windows; all updates; motherboard drivers; video drivers; you'll lose all your e-mail and e-mail addresses and all your saved games - everything.

On the other hand a fresh install always livens things up a little. Your choice.

Hmm well my PC is just so slow sometimes nowadays, struggles with some programmes.

I have done all removie programmes, but still not that much improvement :(

I have alot of stuff on my programe files folder but i don't know what some of that stuff for and is gibberish so could be important!

Either FDisk & Format OR buy a New Hard Drive.

I already have that ;) Run it alot :(

Well it's time for a reformat then, innit :)

Just make sure you have all drivers and you've backed up everything you want to keep.

Do you have the original HP CD with alll the motherboard drivers on?

If not, identify your model, go to HP's site, download them and save them to disk or memory stick.

Also download latest video drivers and save.

Do you have a complete copy of Win XP? Assuming you're using XP, that is. Those restore disks are no good for a fresh install AFAIK.

Make sure you have everything you need before wiping drive.

How big is your drive, btw? Anything under 120Gb and I'd consider a new hard drive.
