Hard Drive Won't Stop Spinning

My hard drive won't stop spinning even though I have it set to do so in my power settings. I know this probably won't ruin the hard drive but I have the computer running 24 hours a day and sometimes the constant reading/writing is annoying. The hard drive would stop when I first installed XP, but for some reason it doesn't anymore.

I would say if your HDD led is on all the time meaning

hard drive working I would suspect if I knew I had
nothing on the go I.E movie encoding , then spyware
