I have a computer I'm trying to fix for someone. They had Windows 98
but with a lot of personal files. Rather than trying to have her think
of everything she needs, I just got a new hard drive and I installed
Windows XP on that. I put the old Windows 98 hard drive in there. The
drive is listed correctly and healthy in the Disk Management. When I
right click on the partition to give it a drive letter, all options
except "Delete Partition..." and "Help" are dimmed. What can I do to
fix it?
I can change the disk configuration and boot Windows 98 so I know the
drive is okay.
Can anyone CC me at (e-mail address removed) (Intentional
obfuscation to bat off spammers) because I'll receive that email faster
than finding a reply in the newsgroup. I gotta go back tomorrow and fix
this because I'm all out of ideas.
Any help will be very much appreciated, thanks, Nate.
