OK - this is nuts, but my hard drive goes into action at the end of every
web page displayed. I'm convinced this didn't happen before.
A few points:
- I have 2gb ram
- I have played around with the page loading from cache options
- I am spyware and virus free
- I have over 50gb free on my hard drive, and apparently do not need to defrag
- IE 6/XP SP2

What is going on? Am I going nuts and it always did that?

When? Let Windows handle those options in XP, you don't need to mess with
them like 98etc. Go back to standard.

Apparently? Why?
What file system?

Cleared out temp files, internet cache, cookies etc? Something like
emprunner http://www.danish-shareware.dk/soft/emptemp/
can help or do it manually, but there are lots of similar utilities. Your
options set a maximum size for cached files, you may have reached or
exceeded it.
