after my last post on here, i discovered that the HDD in the Dell i wa
using was dead. I had a spare pc with win xp on the HDD so i decided t
use that for a while. Then the idea of puttin my spare HDD in to th
dell. Easy as it should be the dell wont boot up with the HDD in it
keeps resetting itself after givin me option to satrt in safe mode.

Maybe it because i tired to reinstall windows on the dell befor
discovein the hdd was actually dying.

all i wanna do is boot up lol

anyone help pleasE

Where did the spare HDD come from?
What brand computer?
What was drive configuration?
How is it set know?
Gives you option to start in safe mode but fails?

Windows XP tends to be specific to the machine in which it is
installed. There is no guarantee that Windows XP installed in
one machine will be bootable in another unless both machines
are very close matches. A repair install and driver updates are
needed for the second HD with OS to become operational. This
will require the Windows XP installation cdrom and probably also
the Dell utilities cdrom.

And also take note that machine configuration is important. With
a dead hard drive, it should be removed. Make the spare HD the
new Primary Master and it might boot. But some repair might not
be unavoidable.

yeah guys thanks i sorted it not long after posting, just managed t
encounter another problem that i will post about now lo
