Hey i installed vista about 4 hours ago and now my harddrive space lef has
gone from 30gb to 26.8 gb i've not installed any programs apart from the
updates also i when i goto play songs in media player its gose from start to
end in a second why is this? thanks.

Sounds like its cached files that are used to speed up the OS and load
things like built applications faster. I would run disk clean up and empty
the following folders:

Temporary Files
Thumbnails

Also make sure that System Restore is not monitoring other partitions or
drives in the system.

Volume Shadowcopy Services will eventually use about 15% of the hard drive
space for shadow copies (previous versions of files) and system restore
points. This is expected behavior.

Colin, have you had any success with Previous Versions? I have edited a
image so many times and I don't see any back up copies of the file or series
or the original file. What could I be doing wrong?

I don't know. I haven't been doing any sort of work that produces
versioning on Vista yet since my copies of Vista aren't very persistent.
Why don't you start a thread and see who weighs in?

oh great.... more reasons why vista is a hog....

I love the features but is there an easyway for someone to turn them off...
and if there is, why isnt it somewhere to be found easlily?

Its like selling a car... Here is the new model.... its great... but it also
secretly
gobbles up more gas..... Dont worry this is a FEATURE! lol
Why would you want to learn how to turn it off???

I've got similar problems with the sound sometimes, happens when the HDD
spins up (from suspend mode) while playing music. I suspect it's a bug
in my motherboard (it's not what it used to be). For me there are two
things that work, if you wait long enough without trying to use the
soundcard in any way. Or more easily just reboot.

Hope that helps
