Hard Drive shows up as a removable device

I recently added a 300GB IDE drive to my XP system. It has an existing SATA
drive in it. The new IDE works fine, but it shows up in the Safely Remove
Hardware icon in the taskbar as a removable drive. There is no check box to
uncheck as in Win98 (or at least I can't find it). Anyone know how to make
it non-removable?
