Hard drive short-circuit

I was messing around inside my cabinet with some wires (Doing this while the
computer was turned .... this proved a big mistake.)

All of the sudden to wires wouched each other and a small flash showed. Then
the computer rebooted. But unfortunately the hard drive didn't start. I have
tried on another power supply but it still doesn't work. I hae now started
the computer with another hard drive so I am pretty sure the hard drive has
been short-circuited.

The big question is now: Is there anyway to restore the data on the disk. Or
would have to turn the hard drive in to a repair man so he can fix it.

Thanks in advance.

If someone can repair it, that is the best option.

Alternatively there are companies who can retrieve your data from a
completely dead drive, but they charge ££££!

Matt.

YOu may try finding an exact copy of the drive you have. Then swap the
circuit boards. The data is probably ok on the internal disks. If this does
not work, just throw it away and lose all the data. YOu probably can not
afford to have the data recovered. Next time make sure you have all your
data backed up to something like CD-R discs.
