How can I get xp to see my hard drive at the correct
amount? My bios sees it at the correct amount, but xp
does not and I have SP1 and the updates and hot fix for it.
I installed it the other day with no problems and no
problems installing xp. The hard drive cd did say that
only 137 would be recognized by xp til xp was installed
and with updates. It's a 160 gb hard drive. I don't want
to reformat it and lose everything and reinstall xp again.
Is there a way around it? I guess a windows repair could
prevent that, but not sure. Will partitioning the rest be
ok? Not sure how to do that either. The drive is a
Seagate and their tech support was quick and said that I
could go back and reformat and have one partition for the
drive or partition the rest. Just don't know how to do it.
Thanks.

You can only see 137GB of the hard drive if you have partitioned it without
having SP1 "merged" into the XP install CD.

Look in Manage/Hard Disks, if yr new hd shows unused space create a 2nd
partition in this.

It shows unallocated space like 20 something. I have not
played around with harddrives that much, but how do you
create another partition? My skills are not that great
in that area. Thanks.

Yer only missing 20 gig. I don't know if you want to fool around with
it just to get an additional 20 gig.

But, if you do...

Partition Magic...and many programs like it...can resize the partition
easily for you.

Good luck.

Have a nice week...
