To All:
Upgraded my HD from 10GB to new 80GB which the bios did
not reconize. Used the dos boot disk to idenify as a 33.8
drive. Everything working fine but will I ever be able to
change the drive back to a full 80GB if put into a new
computer? Also, what is the process to do so???
Many Thanks!!!!
Ken

NO! The BIOS must identify the full capacity first before Windows can see
the 80GB. Check with your motherboard manufacturer to see if they have a
BIOS update which enables drives larger than 33.8GB. If they do, then
update the BIOS and reformat the hard drive to the full 80GB capacity.

If they do not have a BIOS update for drive capacities greater than 33.8GB,
then you could buy an IDE add-on card. These should allow the use of the
80GB completely.

You will have to re-format the drive and re-install XP, and all other
software, because you are changing the capacity size. I do not know of
another way of fixing the 33.8GB capacity size to the full 80GB.
