Hi,
I have a secondary WD hdd with 120gb (JB RTL) with one partition for the
whole drive.
Today, the computer locked and when it came back, I got the "the file or
directory is corrupted and unreadable" message when trying to access data on
that particular drive. After "chkdsk /f", WinXP and PMagic were not able to
see any data on the drive, Partition Magic reported "bad boot signature
byte".
While I thought everything was gone, I've restarted again and all data seems
to be back.
One new folder was created "found.000" with two directories "dir0001.chk"
and another one.
Could this problem have been caused by a virus or something or is the drive
itself responsible (it's fairly new).
Should I backup data from this hdd and get another one or is this something
normal with Winxp/ntfs?
Please respond to ng... I hope I'd find a solution since I'm kind of affraid
to restart again.
Sincerely,
John P.
