I got a 160 GB HD drive and it's partitoned as a 20 and
140 GB. I would like to repartition the 140 GB in four
drives. Do I have to re-format the HD? or is there a way
to do it without re-formatting. The OS is W-XP.

If you wish to keep all the data intact, you can use third party software
such as Partition Magic or BootItNG. If you do not mind losing the data,
then boot with the XP CD, and delete the current partitions, create new ones
in the sizes you require and then format.

He can re-allocate the 140GB partition from within Windows, no need to boot from the CD, this method is much safer for the
uninitiated as it will not allow him to delete his system partition, which it sounds like he does not want to do.
