I purchased a Compaq computer which came with a 120 gig
hard drive. It has 2 partitions, 116 gig C: (boot) and a 4
gig E: (system volume).

This system volume is for the BIOS to do a system recovery.

I put this system recovery on a set of CD's so I feel I
don't need this system volume anymore.

Can I delete this "system volume"?

How will this effect the boot process?

HELP please!

Hello JGB

I woukld just leave it their, does the additional 4gig make
that much of a difference. not really and you still work
your pc just fine.

It could also contain data used to automatically activate
when you reinstall the OS. I just did a reinstall (full
format of C:) on a Dell 4400. It has a hidden FAT32
partition which took care of activation.
