I recently bought a Packard bell machine. I noticed that there was a spare
partition on the drive otherwise Y:\. This is only shown when I do a
recovery on the machine. but when it gets booted to the GUI it doesnt show
in "My Computer". is there a way that I can access this part of the drive so
it can be used for storage.

regards

Darren

You are likely seeing the recovery partition supplied by the manufacturer.
It is not meant to be used by you. You will be happy you did not touch it
when you have to redo your system.

It is most likely a Recovery Partition created by Packard Bell so that you can
recover your system to a factory shipped condition. It is probably less that 8
or 9 GB, and unless you have recovery disks or made recovery disks yourself, it
should be left alone.

You can go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management >
highlight Disk Management and see it there.

Yes, if you choose to do so.

You can delete it and expand C: to use the space, or you can delete it, shrink
C: and then create a larger D:. Although, depending on the location of your
page file, you may not be easily able to shrink C: by much.

I have a similar situation - l've deleted the recovery data and want
to make the unused space part of my C: drive. Vista's Disk Management
doesn't seem to allow me to do this, so how do I do it?
