After completley reinstalling WindowsXP on HP Pavillion 7905 desktop, any
attempts to run the HP Recovery disks fails. System will tell me that hard
drive cannot be found. Yet I can play cd's, and install programs by use of cd
with no problems. The thing is: I lost most of factory originally installed
programs like Microsoft Works, not to name a few other useful programs.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Lisa,

It sounds like you have deleted the HP recovery partition when you
re-installed Windows XP. Unfortunately there is not much hope of getting
that back. You should, however, have an application and driver recovery CD
that will assist you in getting back the factory installed programs.

Take a look and if you don't get anywhere then you'll probably need to
contact HP and ask them for a replacement disc.

The disc that I attempted to run are titled: System Recovery , they were
published by HP. On each cd , a decription of what it'll do is wrote-----
CD contains a backup copy of all software originally installed & can only be
used on an HP Pavillion.
Thats on the set of 7 disc. I thought thats was the same thing as you
mentioned.

Thanks for the assistance.
