I have a comp that is abut one year old and when I first
start it it makes a noise for about 30 seconds in the
cooler weather(seems longer) When the weather is warm it
is fine.
I was wondering if there is a way of lubricating it at
all. If there is what should I use?
I would appreciate any advise given.

Maybe it's not the harddisk but a cooling fan that produces the noise.
Anyway you can't lubricate a harddisk but maybe a fan you could.
Many times however a fan makes noise because it's dirty.

Hello

No, some harddrivers make more noise than others, so you need
to take that into consideration, and you you like purchase drive that
is not so noisey

If it makes louder and different noises then it did when new,
then it may be approaching death. Backup now, and verify that
you know how to restore from that backup.

Whatever you want to do DO NOT OPEN your hard drive
as it may never work again and will certainly invalidate
any warranty you may still have left.
Are you certain the loud noise is from the hard disk?
Try manually (by holding fan blades) any fans and see if noise goes.
They are more likely to be the source of noise.
Clean the dust and muck out of the fan blades and it may help
I fyou are certain it is from the HDD , do you have one which is
warrantied for 3 years, if so then take it in for replacement.
