Is it perhaps a limitation placed on the very much castrated XP version for
domestic users?
I'd partition the drive, myself or since you seem to be able to afford such
a monster drive, spend a bit more and get a non castrated XP Pro.

For Windows XP to recognize drives greater than 127GB:
1) BIOS must support 48-bit LBA,
2) The disk controller (either on the motherboard or separately) must
support 48-bit LBA
3) Service Pack 1 must be installed and lastly,
4) 48-bit LBA must be enabled in the registry.

Why can I only see 127 to 137 GBytes of my 160+ GB drive?
