Hello,
My computer has Windows XP installed, I powered it up
this morning and the screen stayed black. I got another
monitor from a working computer and put that monitor on
and still had only a black screen. Then I noticed the
red hard drive light remained on all the time. I turned
the power off and back on to no effect. The green light
on the monitor is on so it is powered. Any ideas?

Thanks
Matt

First, be sure all the cables are secure. Usually, if they weren't you
would see a message that there's no signal but it's worth checking anyway.

It's possible the hard drive is failing. If you can get to the hard drive
manufacturer's website, download the manufacturer's hard drive tools. There
will be instructions at the site for creating a boot floppy that will allow
you boot into there diagnostic tools. Do so and run their diagnostic tools
as these tools can usually detect a failing hard drive.

THERE IS A POWER CABLE ON THE MOTHERBOARD AUX I THINK
(NOT THE BIG ONE BUT SMALL) IT POWERS THE CPU POWER IT
MUST BE PLUGGED IN I HOW ITS THAT AND THIS INFO HAS
HELPED :)
