Hard Drive is not C

I have had to start over with a new hard drive following a
complete crash.
I am using Windows XP Professional and it is a clean
installation.

Most of my progams and backup data have come back nicely.
My new hard drive(boot drive) is on a different controller
than previous and XP has assigned it "F" instead of the
more familiar "C".
I had to get a new controller with a BIOS that could work
with my new hard drive.
For the most part things work as normal.
I have one program that I have tried to reload. It gets
constantly hungup because the installation starts with "C"
before going to "F" (my boot disk). "C" currently has a
ZIP Drive installed and data goes there that messes up the
rest of the installation.
It has been strongly recommend that I do nothing to chane
the letter of the boot drive.
HOW CAN I FOOL THE INSTALLATION TO GO TO "F" ONLY?

I also reinstalled XP prof. And it installed itself onto my D: disk. This is
a second hard drive. I went with it for a while but found it annoying. So I
cleaned off my C:\ drive (At least the windows portion of it and made sure
everything relating to windows was gone. Then after I booted into windows
(the d:\ drive) I put my cd in and ran it from "run".

Windows installation advised me that I have another drive with windows on it
but gave me the choice to place Windows elsewhere which I did. After I got
it running ok I changed boot.ini to boot to the "C:\" drive only and I later
began deleting the other windows directory bit by bit.

The reason for that is that windows system and system32 directories have
files on them to eliminate the need for reinstalling a lot of my programs.
You'll figure that out.

I also was able to import my document files into outlook express as well as
my .wab files. You get the idea.

It works.

You will have to reactivate the os.

Good luck.
