Trevor

I currently have Windows XP Home. It is the upgrade
addition (upgraded from Windows ME). I want to purchase a
hard drive with more disk space. Can I use the upgrade
edition to install on a new blank drive, or do I have to
install ME again and then install the upgrade over it?

From my expierence as long as you have the origional CDRom
of the OS you are upgrading from, the new OS can be
installed by itself. Simply install XP Home as if it were
a full installation copy, and when it prompts you for
proof of an upgrade simply place the ME CDRom in the drive
and 'browse' to it. That should work.

Trevor,
Here is the cheat to get a full install of winxp. Start
the install with the xp disk in the drive. When the
system detects no winme on the system, it will prompt you
for the winme cd. Insert the winme cd. It will proceed
past that stop point to another stop point. When the
system next asks for some user interaction. Remove the
winme cd and reinstall the winxp cd. The system will then
install winxp from the upgrade disk. Taaaahhhhaaa
Daaaahhhhaaaa WinXP w/o winme...
