Hello Everyone,
This is a fresh Install of XP Pro on a Maxtor 8Gb drive
as C:. It is working fine so I installed the main
harddrive (Maxtor 20gb) as D: so that I could Ghost C:
over (and then remove the 8gb) but D: is not completely
recognized in XP. I can see it listed in Device Manager,
but it shows up as location 0 (0) which is the same as
my C: drive....????

I can boot from the 20gb drive into win98se and
everything is fine and the drive scandisks' perfect!
Booting from a floppy into DOS has the same results - C:
and D: are fine and scandisk perfect.

The motherbd is an Nforce chipset K7N420 Pro by MSI,
with an AthlonXP 2200+ , pushing 512Mb of crucial ram.
Everything else (video, lan,&sound) is built into the
chipset.

Any HELP is GREATLY appreciated !!!!

When you add a new hard drive to XP you must assign it a drive letter. Run
diskmgmt.msc, right click on your 20GB drive and select "Change drive
letters and paths". Now click add and select an available drive letter. The
drive will now be available to use.
