Hi, can anyone help please. I have a 40g IBM hard drive which was new in 2002, I have had to format the drive due to a windows xp problem that could not be resolved. Every thing is now up and running, except that the drive is showing as 40gb in the bios, which is correct, but when you right click over drive C, in properties it only shows as being 10.01gb, which is not enough for my needs, any ideas or help would be most appreciated, Thanks David J

if you are on windows xp

click on start then adminstrative tools
now computer management

storage now
disk management (local)

do u see ne 'unallocted space' in there?
hope so
u need to create some partitions then if there is something like that.

Thanks very much for your prompt reply, yes it shows 28.33gb unallocated, would you mind guiding me how to create a partion ? regards David J

rite no worries

im not fully sure on this
SO DONT DO IT IF YOU ARE UNSURE

right click on the drive u want to partition/format
MAKE SURE U CLICK ON THE CORRECT ONE!

follow the xp instructions
MAKE SURE U CREATE A BASIC PARTITION okay!

and then u will get a new 'harrdrive' in 'my computer' showin up as P: or D:/
or whatever u have named it to.

try copying over files, should work now
