Here's the deal... I was having some problems with my
computer so I decided it was time to format the HD. I
have a new computer I built myself (Athlon 2500, 80GB,
512 RAM, etc.). I backed up all the data I wanted to save
on another HD and inserted a windows xp cd. I decided to
try a "fresh install." I got everything started and left
the computer alone for a while. When I came back it had
stopped and was frozen with my background picture and
the "working" cursor flashing. I restarted and it took me
to windows xp setup where I had the option of repairing
the install. I tried that to no avail. It reached the
point it needed to restart and then went straight to
another setup screen that said something along the lines
of "System is being restarted." From here it then goes
black and my monitor tells me that it can't display in
that video mode. I tried hooking up another, smaller
monitor and it did the same thing. I have a 98 startup
disk that I was using to run fdisk. I ran a scandisk on
the HD and it is only recognizing 10 of the 80GB. I also
can't get the command prompt to notice the slave drive I
have in the computer. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. If
you have further questions, I will answer them to the
best of my knowledge via email or post. Thank you so much!
