Hi

I have an 80-gig hard drive in my server that struggles to format on
one of the FAT32 partitions. When all partitions are deleted and
re-created and the same size partitions are in place it struggles in
exactly the same spot 63% of the FAT32 partition.

Are there any freeware hard drive surface testing utilities available?

Is there a log that contains info when Windows 2000 server formats a
hard drive.

Will a low level format fix this error?

Any ideas or info would be graetly appreciated.

Regards

Sean

Every disk manufacturer makes a disk diagnostic tool available
on his web site. This is the one you should use.

Also, how large is this volume that you are trying to format? W2K and
XP can only create FAT32 volumes that are 32GB in size or smaller.
