Hello

Here you go.
1. Make sure if you have any important data back it up
2. Go inot your system BIOS make cdrom Primary Boot device 1
3. Save and Exit BIOS, restart with cdrom in the tray
4. Once cpu reboots you will be prompted to boot from cdrom
5. Follow the instructions on the menu
6. Delete the partition while going through the steps
7. and Format as NTFS ok

Carl;
A floppy disk is not needed since the Windows XP CD is bootable.

Clean Installation:
Disconnect all peripherals (camera, printer, scanner, etc)
Go to BIOS and set CDROM as boot device before hard drive.
Insert Windows XP CD and reboot.
At "Press any key to boot to CDROM" quickly press a key and follow the
prompts for a Clean installation:
http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sg_clean.asp
Delete all partitions in step 5 if you desire to erase all data on the
hard drive.
Partitioning and formatting will be done automatically.
All data will be destroyed, back-up important data first.

After you are finished, you will need to load the appropriate drivers.

If your computer was shipped with Windows XP, these procedures may or
may not apply.
Check your manual or contact the computer manufacturer for more
details.

Dave;
Since a floppy is not needed at all, this is not really the "asiest
way to do this".

"first you will need to make a starup disk"
Why?
Since the Windows XP CD is bootable and will partition and format the
hard drive, you are adding unnecessary steps.

Just boot from XP Home CD and follow the steps - choose to delete the
current partition - it will then reformat everything and voila. Pretty
easy. Again, just know that once you reformat EVERYTHING is lost. Do a
backup somewhere if needed.

You do it as part of a reinstall of the system after booting the XP CD
direct. Enter Setup, and after the license agreement take New Install.
When it asks you to confirm where, hit ESC; select and delete the
current partition and make a new RAW one to be formatted at the next
stage

First make sure you really want to - mostly for repair of the system,
taking Repair Installation rather than New Install id the first thing to
do.

And read up at www.aumha.org/win5/a/wpa.htm in Format Hard drive for a
tip on conserving one 'vote' for Product activation
