Hi There

When I boot up my PC
I get the message

*Warning* immediatley back-up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A
failure may be imminent.

Now I have had this message before and I defragged\ used error checking and
so on and I never got the message again for about 3 months, but now it's
back.

so again I went through this procedure but to no avail, I've been to Device
manager and says the device is working properly.

The hard disk drive is a.... Maxtor 5T060H6 Model.

Will I *have* to replace my hard disk drive or is there a way to fixing this
problem ?

Regards

Its time to give Maxtor a call and see if the
drive is still under warranty. If it is, they
will replace it.

In the U.S. call: 1-800-2-MAXTOR

You need to remove the drive from the computer
because Maxtor will want some info off the drive.

You can download and run Maxblast, Maxtors own diagnostic program for Hard
drives.

It will check your HDD and come up with an error code if faulty.

Send an e-mail to Maxtor with this error code in, and they will send you a
replacement HDD(you have to give them a CC number in case you don't return
the faulty HDD within a certain time)

Put 2nd HDD into system, format and transfer all proggies to new drive,
remove old drive, return to Maxtor.

Sorted.

Hi
I downloaded powermax wich does the same thing i think, but it had to be put
onto a
floppy first Then booted up, but I then got the message * cannot load DOS *

I went into setup to make sure that the floppy drive came first in the boot
sequence
still no good .

Is there a diagnostic prog or utility that you can run straight from the
desktop??

Thanks for your replies
