I was trying to do a clean install of xp pro with a HD I let XP setup format
the disc and copy all of its setup files e.t.c. When rebooting the pc, the
Hard drive does not boot up to continue with the install. I've checked the
boot order of the BIOS e.t.c., but it is just stuck on initial startup and
will not boot. Any ideas? I've used fdisk and checked the Hard drive and
the file structure looks to be in place and set as the active partition. Any
help appreciated.

As in (booted to xp cd,selected install xp,deleted the partition(s),created
one, then let xp format & install),its the only way, plus, have the BIOS set
to:cdrom 1st boot device hd with xp 2nd...Also,no other hds running on the
pc,+ XP doesnt use FDisk...

Yes, I've tried all of that to no avail. If it doesn't boot from the cd then
the HD does not boot at all. The HD is even marked as active and has all of
the xp preinstalled files on there to start the install

How are you starting this re-install? From a CD that your boot from
or a recovery partitiion?

I encountered this before several times. This usually indicate the
hard drive is failing. You should consider replacing he hard drive.
