I just installed Windows 2000 onto a new (used) machine.
All went well. Then following the download and
installation of all the updates from MS, including SP4,
etc., and installing SystemWorks 2003 with all of it's
updates, ...at some point I realized that the hard drive
was constantly going through bursts of activity.
Constantly. I ran the Win2000 disk optimization in the
hope that it was somehow trying to rearrange something on
the disk, but it has never stopped this ridiculous
behavior. I have let it sit "idle" for a half hour and it
never stops these short bursts of activity. This destroys
the performance of the machine when running a real
application !
Any ideas ??
