Hard drive: a hardware device that is electrically connected to your
computer.
Partition (or volume): an area of the recording surface of a hard drive
or other storage device that has been prepared for use by an operating
system (and has a name like C: or Z
.
If your hard drive is a 2GB device you'll have to buy and install a
larger one. Then use a 3rd party utility (not the operating system) to
copy what you want to it, if you're talking about a 2GB bootable
partition. The operating system cannot copy itself completely while it's
running; such a utility has to be able to self-boot.
If you have a 2GB partition (like C
on a larger hard drive, and you
want to resize it, you need a 3rd party utility to do so. One such
utility is PartitionMagic ("PM"). You can find out all about it, and
find other similar utilities, on the web. Start at
www.powerquest.com
for info about PM. Use Google to search of other partition resizers.
