Hello,

I have an old Sony Vaio that is currently having problems booting up. Here
is the deal. I booted it up fine yesterday and installed the OS (WinXP SP 2
for what it's worth) and some software. I logged off and left the power on
last night. When I got here this morning, I looked at the screen and it was
nothing but these thin bars down the monitor. In essence, it looked like the
system crashed. That said, I turned the power off and back on, only to find
that it just kept beeping. I was thinking that it was because it couldn't
find a hard drive, but it beeped as soon as I turned it on. That shouldn't
happen because there is no hard drive right? Either way, I tried to switch
out the drive and the ribbon cable connecting it, but no luck. Now, the
system just beeps and never boots. Any idea as to where I can start to
diagnose this problem? Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.

Pen,

Although I don't understand it, I have fixed the problem. When I poked into
the site and found the beep codes (I cant stand their site), I found it was
because there was no RAM in the machine, I guess it became unseated sometime
last night. That's what I don't understand. That's okay though because its
fixed. Thanks and I appreciate the help.
